Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program

John H. Stroger HospitalJohn H. Stroger Hospital
The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program is a three year combined program leading to certification in both Hematology and Medical Oncology. There are six fellowship positions (two per year).

The major clinical rotations include inpatient consultation services in Hematology and Medical Oncology, radiation therapy, blood banking, bone marrow transplantation, hospice, laboratories, immunology and cytogenics. Patients are seen at both John Stroger Hospital and Rush University Medical Center.

Fellows have half-day continuity clinics during the three years in Medical Oncology and Hematology, Breast Oncology Clinic and Hematology Clinics.

They participate in all activities of the division including some that are purely educational as:

  • Hematology/Oncology Grand Round
  • Weekly invited speakers
  • Journal Club
  • Research Round

Fellows are allotted protected research time each year of the fellowship and are encouraged to present and or publish their work.

The fellows take their Steam Cell Transplantation experience on the inpatient Ward at Rush University Hospitals with Dr. Henry Fung.
