In 1999, the entities of the Cook County Bureau of Health Services adopted common policies and assurances for research and for approving externally funded projects. Persons doing research or applying for funding should be familiar with the following:

Guidebook for Grants and Research

The Bureau procedures and guidelines governing research and applications for external funding.

Multiple Project Assurance: Human Research

Assurance made to the Office for Protection from Research Risks, outlining procedures to be followed in overseeing human research.

Multiple Project Assurance: Animal Research

Assurance made to the Office for Protection from Research Risks, outlining procedures to be followed in overseeing vertebrate animal research.

Investigating Possible Scientific Misconduct

Bureau policy for dealing with allegations of misconduct in science.

Research Financial Disclosure Policy

Bureau policy on the disclosure of significant financial interests in research projects.

IRB Procedures Manual

Summary of procedures used by Bureau Investigational review Board (IRB's, or Scientific Committees) to oversee human research.
