| Biosketch: |
Carissa Hampton is a member of the Collaborative Research Unit and has worked at Cook County Hospital for 21 years. When she came to Cook County Hospital she was a young girl that was thriving for knowledge and information. She started in the Department of Dietary where she worked as a clerk typist helping dietitians in their preparation of meals for CCH’s patients. She then moved on to the Dept. of Psychiatry where she was a Steno V for the Chairman of the Div. of Ambulatory Psychiatry. She found Psychiatry to be a place where things were never in a state of normal. Once again she moved on, all in betterment of herself, and became Admin. Asst. II to the Chairman of Rheumatology where with the chairman’s help she advanced her knowledge of patients and learned about patients with all kinds of aches and pains. She later moved on and found herself in the new world of clinical quality research. She is a resident of one of the city’s western suburbs (Bellwood) and enjoys being a mom to her son, Xzavier (9), her daughter, Zahirah (2) and long time legal guardian to her niece, Jasmine (16). She also enjoys having challenging things given to her.
